Europe
The Chamaerops Humilis, also known as the European Dwarf Palm, is one of the few palm trees native to Europe. With its compact growth and fan-shaped leaves, this palm makes an excellent houseplant but can also thrive outdoors in the garden.

The Chamaerops Humilis is a versatile palm that can tolerate both direct sunlight and partial shade. Indoors, place it near a south- or west-facing window to ensure it gets enough light. Outdoors, it prefers a sunny spot but can handle some shade. Make sure it is sheltered from strong winds.
Water your Chamaerops Humilis once or twice a week, depending on the temperature and humidity levels. In summer, it will need more water, while in winter, you can reduce the frequency. Allow the top layer of soil to dry out before watering again. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
The Chamaerops Humilis grows slowly, so it doesn’t need a lot of feeding. During spring and summer, you can feed it once a month with a palm fertiliser to support its growth. Avoid feeding in autumn and winter, as the plant enters a less active growth phase.
The Chamaerops Humilis is one of the hardiest palms and can withstand outdoor temperatures as low as -12°C. Indoors, it prefers temperatures between 15°C and 25°C. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperature fluctuations or draughts.
Pruning is rarely necessary for the Chamaerops Humilis. Remove dead or damaged leaves to keep the plant tidy and encourage new growth. Use clean, sharp scissors or pruning shears to avoid causing damage.
The Chamaerops Humilis is generally resistant to pests and diseases. Occasionally, it may attract scale insects or spider mites. Regularly check the leaves and treat infestations with a natural pesticide or by rinsing the leaves with lukewarm water.
With its resilience and adaptability, the Chamaerops Humilis is an excellent choice for both indoor and outdoor spaces!
