Description

Pileas come in all shapes and sizes – from the famous Chinese Money Plant to trailing types with tiny leaves. Whatever your style, there's probably a Pilea to match it. They're playful, easygoing and perfect for adding a bit of charm to your space.

Origin

These plants are native to tropical and subtropical regions, especially in South America and Asia. In the wild, they grow in shaded, humid areas.

Care

Light

Pileas prefer bright, indirect light. A spot near a window without strong midday sun is perfect. Some types also do fine in partial shade.

Water

Keep the soil lightly moist, but let the top dry out before watering again. Too much water can cause root rot.

Humidity

Normal indoor humidity works just fine. You can mist occasionally, but it’s usually not necessary.

Toxic?

Most Pilea varieties are non-toxic, so they’re pet and child friendly. Always check the exact species to be sure.

Whether you go for a bushy, upright variety or a delicate trailing one, a Pilea adds a fun touch of green to your home.
