Description
The Strelitzia originates from South Africa and is known for its beautiful orange flower with blue-coloured stem.
Strelitzia has many different nicknames. From Bird of Paradise, Bird's head flower, to Bird of Paradise Plant.
The plant's appearance has charmed many who have seen it. The best thing about the Strelitzia is that it is an indoor flowering plant, and that it often blooms in nature.
However, at home, the Strelitzia will only flower after eight years which happens when the plant is about 2-3 metres. The plant needs direct sunlight, a lot of water, and love for flowering.
Leaf Tears
You may notice that Strelitzias have tears in their leaves. Don't worry! Leaf tears are quite normal and do not affect the plant's health.
As the plant grows larger and older, tears can occur in the leaves. Most tears happen during the unfurling of new leaves. This is a natural process and does not have any negative impact on the plant's health or growth rate.
If desired, you can gently remove the damaged leaves. This way, the plant can grow new leaves that may have fewer tears.
